DAVE ALCOCK - BRITISH MASTERS AT WOBURN - Wednesday 7th Oct 2015

I entered a FootJoy competition to play in the Pro Am at Woburn and won

I travelled down the night before to be fresh on the day, registration at 9am followed by breakfast surrounded by Sky sports presenters and sporting greats, obviously a bit nervous I made my way the practice area which was very busy, but Padraig Harrington let me hit a few while he got one of his wedges re-gripped, I never hit a bad shot! Until I got on the our first Tee!!!, which due to the shotgun start was the 4th, and pulled it left but not too bad. 

Didn't really settle down until after 4/5 holes when the nerves left me I started to enjoy the occasion, Peter Uihlien was the tour Pro with Peter Finch playing and doing some work for Golf Monthly and YouTube, both were great on the course and offered advice when needed. The competition was team event were anything below par counted for the team, we finished on 6 under, and propped up the comp!, although there were some ringers in the winning side of Padraig Harrington, A P McCoy, Kevin Peterson etc. on 23 under!

Following the day a presentation dinner hosted by Kirsty Gallagher, and just to top the night off Sat next to Kenny Dagliesh! 

 

LEWIS MARTIN WINS JUNIOR KNOCKOUT

13 year old Lewis Martin won this year's Junior Knockout by beating current Junior Captain Callum Nixon in the final.

This is the first time Lewis had played any sort of Matchplay before and won against some very good players by the names of Jack Fryer (1 up) and Leann Nixon (1 up) as well as Callum.

APPOINTMENT OF CLUB CHEF

Dear Members,

Leek Golf Club Management Committee are pleased to announce the appointment of John Challinor to the position of Executive Chef & Catering Manager. John will commence his duties on the 9th November 2015. John has many years' experience and is committed to providing an exceptional Service and Dining experience for members.

We all see this as a positive move and wish John every success in his role.
