PRO'S SUNDAY WINTER LEAGUE
This Sunday sees the start of this year's Sunday winter league. If you already have a made-up group you can enter throughout the day and for anyone not having a made-up group, there will be a "roll up" each Sunday at 9:45 with the aim of the first group starting at 10o`clock. This is a great way to meet new people and guarantee yourself a game on a Sunday morning throughout all of the winter.
Entry will be £2.50 and the format is individual stableford.
Quiz Night 5 - 15.10.15
Unfortunately, the numbers of teams were reduced on this occasion possibly due to the change of date that was unavoidable. However, those that came were teased by 8 rounds of 10 questions yet again and rose to the occasion with the usual impressive knowledge. Unlike previous occasions there was an exciting tie for first place both scoring 168 points! Quiz master (Andrew Baxter) had to think quickly on his feet and ask a searching question off the top of his head. "How many inches are there in a mile?" EASY! you may cry but when under pressure to produce the correct answer quickly and first, 'Boy and Girls' unfortunately folded and came second to 'Pain In The Neck' (Barry & Gwen Turner with Roy Williams, - Jen Williams being poorly), who answered correctly.
This led them to the customary Rollover Question for £40. "How many people survived the sinking of the Titanic?" (Answer: 706 - 492 Passengers & 214 Crew) I'm sorry to say they were unable to answer correctly and in the usual tradition this money will go forward to our next quiz, hence the final question will be worth £80! Well worth a punt if you'd like to come along on Thursday 26th November, 7pm (£8 per team of 4). As a thank you to all those who have supported there will be a small free, social buffet on this occasion. Many thanks to Sam who helped with the scoring on the night and congratulations to 'Strange Rivers' who received the Jelly Babies for their 138 pts! Jayne L.C.
