Quiz Night 4
Last evening (17th) saw the return of our quiz enthusiasts. After a nervous wait 7 teams of old faithfuls arrived to do battle over 8 rounds of 10 questions, plus 3 booster rounds to enhance their scores and tickle the 'grey matter'.
Quiz master Steve (Wales) ably assisted compiler Andrew (Baxter) in delivering the questions throughout the evening, as the latter inputted the scores onto the computer to be displayed very professionally on the screen. A 'Joker' card was used by each team on their preferred round to double the possible points.
The subjects ranged from Pot Luck to History, Trivia to Science with the Booster rounds including an amusing 'Cryptic Body Parts', 'Double Acts' and 'Hats Off'. The charity raffle bottle was won by Jenny Cordon.
True to form the defending champs last time 'Brackendale Backwater' finished victors with 217 pts over 'Checkmates' (208pts), each receiving a quality bottle of wine donated by the Coors brewery. The strongest team- 'The Asbo's' propped everyone up and received a celebratory box of chocs for their support on the night.
To stick with tradition on these occasions, the winning team answered the Rollover question:- If seven people meet each other and shake hands only once with each other, how many handshakes will there have been? Correctly as 21, and admirably gave the £40 back to Lady Captain for her chosen charity of Donna Louise. Along with the raffle and entry monies and these donations over £70 was raised on the night. Many thanks were expressed by Lady Captain for all the help received and to those attending.
Quiz 5 will be on Thursday 8th October PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE
