Back into the ring for the first time since knee surgery, Tiger Woods once again proved that class is permanent by equaling Sam Snead’s PGA Tour record of 82 wins with victory at the inaugural Zozo Championship.

A typhoon named Bualoi (which wiped out play on Friday) and the requirement for a fifth day couldn’t stop Tiger from dominating an impressive field in which he led home Matsuyama by three on 19-under-par.

Snead was 52 years old when he won his 82nd PGA Tour title and Tiger equalled it at 43 - impressive stuff!

Lady Captain’s Farewell

Lady Captain’s Farewell took place on Tuesday 15 October.

Unfortunately, the weather was a little unkind in the run up to this competition which meant it was a 12 rather than 18 hole competition. However, 28 ladies took part and enjoyed an excellent meal afterwards.

The ladies played for a trophy donated by Jayne Baxter to help raise funds for the Lady Captain’s charity (Air Ambulance) and prizes courtesy of the Lady Captain.

The overall winner was Marion Lilley with 23 points, 2nd Jo Peacock with 22 points and 3rd Jenny Cordon with 21 points on countback. The two nearest the pin prizes were won by Jo Peacock (11th) and Jayne Baxter (13th).

Winners of the winter league, team competitions and medals and stableford competitions were also presented with their prizes. Trophies and end of year awards will be presented after the Christmas meal on Tuesday 3 December.

Next week’s event is being held at Great Barr where assistant Jacob will be competing and is looking for 3 players to make up his team.
