I remember a few years ago when Zarak used to walk around the golf course with his Dad, Ian, not showing any interest in golf but over the last few years he has developed a passion for the game and applied himself to the task in hand. He is highly competitive, works hard on his technique and is determined to succeed. Zarak started the season off an handicap of 4.4 and his golfing education began when he started at Trafford College where he would be a residential student attending the Lee Westwood Golf School at High Legh near Knutsford. Over the last year he represented the College in the National Championships where they won both gross and nett titles. He receives full time coaching and plays in high level competitions every Thursday as well as County events and Leek Golf Club competitions on Sundays. On Saturdays Zarak played in the Junior Competitions in the morning and then represented Leek’s 1st Team in the NSDGL Premier Division. A huge amount of competitive golf for anyone never mind a 17 year old in full time education! Individually, Zarak has won The Staffordshire Schools Knockout and The Staffordshire Boys Matchplay this year and is a prominent member of the County Team, particularly when playing with County fourball partner Harry Fearn (won every match when playing together during the season). When I asked Zarak what he thought were his best achievements for the season he remarked “I had a 64 gross in Hay Bowl, 2 x 67s, a 68 and a 69 in medal competitions at Leek”. Maybe that is the mentality we all need to have to become a winner in golf? He finished a very special season of golf off a handicap of 1.0.
Proud Dad Ian commented – “It is his aim to one day play on the European Tour”.
Congratulations Zarak on passing your driving test on your first attempt!
