Welcome to another exciting edition to Leek Golf Club's weekly newsletter. We hope that you're having a good week on and off the golf course. Enjoy the read. |
Leek Pro-Am 2018 The Leek Pro-Am 2018 took place on Friday 13th July and it was a well-supported event. I wasn’t sure if the day was going to go to plan when in the morning torrential rain delayed play for an hour, but with the fantastic work of the Green staff along with the PGA (and their squeegees) they got the course into great shape and play restarted.
Throughout the day the weather was kind until late on around 5.30pm, torrential rain, thunder and lightning meant we had to call all players in but again fantastic work with the squeegees meant we could restart play and complete the Pro-Am just before the sun went down. |
I would like to say a BIG thank you to our Main Sponsors – COORS and Quality Golf Destinations and all of our Hole Sponsors – Discount Medical, Hunters Estate Agents, Browns Recycling, Newbold Opticians, Hotel Rudyard, and Chris Howell Plumbing and Heating, without their continued support of this event it would not be possible. Finally, a thank you to all amateurs and professional who took part. Team results |

Captains Charity Day This year's Captains Charity Day will be held on Saturday 21st July and I'm keen to ensure that we do our very best to raise funds for the selected charities. My chosen charities for 2018 are; Douglas Macmillan and the Peter Alliss wheelchair appeal. I think you will agree that Dougie Mac do a fantastic job and is a charity that has touched many of us. The Peter Alliss wheelchair appeal is a charity that LGC has been involved with for many years and helps to provide wheelchair's for children with special needs. An 11 year old local boy has been identified as this year's recipient and arrangements will be made to meet him and his family later in the year. In order to make this day special and raise the much-needed funds, I really do need your help and support. I will outline some fund raising opportunities below, but if you're unable to help in this way then please still come along on the day and support us by being at the club. Hole Sponsorship;
I'm still looking for Companies or even individuals to sponsor each hole on the course. The cost is only £175 per hole and what can be a nicer way than through supporting a good cause to deliver your company message.
Enter a Team;
The team entry list is now published in the hallway adjacent to the Pro's shop. There are several Tee times available at £60 for a member’s team or £80 for visitor's. Entry forms can be obtained from the Pro.
Charity Sweep;
Throughout the day a sweep will be run with some fantastic prizes, however despite the generosity to date, it would be great if we were able to offer an even more extensive list of goodies. On this basis if you do have that unwanted bottle or gift then all donations would be gratefully received. Please pass any donations to the office.
Drinks and food will be served throughout the day, so if you are able to come along it will be great to see you there.
Best regards, John Pennington. Captain.

We're rewarding your loyalty If you buy any two FootJoy gloves between now and Sunday 5th August, we will give you a third FootJoy glove for FREE. The best part about this offer is that all three gloves don't need to be the same model, unless you want them to be, of course. So why not try a CabrettaSof leather glove for increased feel on hot days, a RainGrip glove for those wetter occasions, and a WeatherSof option for complete versatility? |

Fancy a FREE cart bag? Motocaddy is one of the world's best-selling trolley brands, which is in no small part down to their continuous innovation. Take their S5 CONNECT electric trolley for example, which was the world's first trolley with GPS capabilities, showing you distances to the front, middle and back of every green. Well, between now and Friday 31st August, if you purchase an S5 CONNECT electric trolley from us, you can claim a FREE Motocaddy cart bag worth at least £159.99. What a deal! |
|
It was great to see several of you asking about Motocaddy’s new M-Series range of electric trolleys following last week’s newsletter. However, we know that electric trolleys aren’t for everyone, so make sure you take a look at Motocaddy’s push options too, which also feature some fantastic technology. |
Small and mighty This new Motocaddy CUBE CONNECT push trolley isn’t electric, but it has many of the same benefits as Motocaddy’s flagship models, including a soft-touch handle, Quikfold frame and Easilock base. Most impressive however, is that it provides yardages to the front, middle and back of every green, making it the world's only GPS enabled push trolley. If all that’s not enough, you’ll also enjoy generous storage space, including an under-handle net and accessory compartment. This is just one of the trolley options we offer, so if you’re looking for something with more features or that folds smaller, why not pop by the store and check out our whole range? |
