Junior Captains' Welcome I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the members of Leek Golf Club and thank the junior section for allowing me to be your Captain for the 2018 season. I am 16 years of age and have been playing golf for 11 years now. My present handicap is Scratch and I hope to reduce that down this year. I have been fortunate to have my Dad, Fred, as my coach and mentor and the basics that he drilled in to me in my formative years have undoubtedly been very beneficial. At present I am able to access coaching through England Golf with John Watson. It is my intention to play a very active role as Junior Captain and I hope that I will be able to pass on some of my experience to the other junior members. I believe that this is a very important time for young boys and girls to develop their skills but perhaps, just as important, is for the junior members to feel part of Leek Golf Club and make lifelong friends. This is possible for all standards, however young, due to the progressive attitudes of the Club’s officials by providing competitions on Saturday mornings, an experience team to help us progress within a safe environment and even a club room where we can all meet up with each other when the golf has finished. Junior golf is all about fun and having a laugh with friends so please come along and try it out. This season, Leek has entered the Staffordshire County Junior League and we have matches against Trentham, Trentham Park and Barlaston to play. Let me know if you are interested in representing LGC and I will do my best to make it possible. For those boys and girls that may be interested in giving this game of golf a try why not speak with our Club Professional Greg Rogula. He will point you in the right direction and you never know, you may be a natural.
See you on the fairways soon.
