LOMBARD TROPHY
On Thursday 17th July, Lombard Qualifier winner Geoff Aust and I tested our games against all other Lombard winners and their Professionals at the Midland Regional Qualifier at Coventry Golf Club.
The format was ¾ handicap better ball medal and what started as a promising round, after producing 2 birdies in the first 2 holes, we could not manage to capitalise on that and finished the day on a respectable score of -4. This finished us mid table but that was not good enough to reach the Finals at Gleneagles, but a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
CAPTAINS CHARITY OPEN (rearranged Saturday 2nd August)
After a glorious weeks weather, Captains Charity Day arrived and the weather took a turn for the worse and the rain poured down.
Unfortunately we had to postpone the event due to the rain but have rearranged for Saturday 2nd August.

LADIES INVITATION DAY
On the 15th July 16 ladies invited members from neighbouring golf clubs to play in the Invitation Day. The format was a 4BBB Stableford competition played off full handicap. Friendship, sunshine and good weather what more could we ask for? Good golf was also achieved with some excellent scores. The results were as follows:
1st prize went to Jayne Baxter and Jennie Beardmore from Westwood with 45 pts.
2nd prize Lisa Davies and Barbara Burgess from Newcastle with 43 pts.
3rd prize Tina Edwards and Chris Millard from Barlaston with 42 pts.
There was a nearest the pin on the 4th one for the home player and one for the visitor.
Embarrassingly no Leek player landed on the green.
Julie Postlethwaite from Wilmslow won nearest the pin for the visitors.
The 2's competition run by the Pro Shop was won by Barbara Burgess who achieved a 2 on the 7th.Barbara went home weighed down with golf balls as she was the only lady to achieve a 2.

TRIP TO LADIES OPEN - ROYAL BIRKDALE GC
A week last Friday, Jenny Cordon drove a mini bus for ladies to attend the British Ladies Open at Royal Birkdale. After an early start, a very pleasant journey, the ladies were then given priority free parking. An amazing day was had by all, seeing the best of lady golfers in very lovely warm conditions. Of course ladies being ladies a few purchases were made in the merchandise tent. Bookings already being taken for next year.
