It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Peter Stubbs, our club professional and head green keeper from 1963 till 2001. There is no doubt that Peter made a major contribution the success of Leek Golf Club during its formative years and will be remembered fondly for his "Open All Hours" approach to retailing, his unique sense of humour and mischief and not least for his love of red wine and own brand golf ball, "The Birchall Flier".
The funeral will take place on Tuesday 15th July 2014 at Carmountside Crematorium followed by refreshments at Leek Golf Club. On behalf of members I thank Peter for his time at Leek Golf Club and his contribution in making our club the success it is today. R.I.P.
Hon. Secretary
Peter was with the Golf Club for nearly 40 years so if any members have any fond memories or anecdotes of Peter please can you send them to secretary@leekgolfclub.co.uk for a future feature.

"STOTTY" NARROWLY MISSES OUT ON STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY SENIORS' TITLE
Bloxwich was the venue for this year's County Seniors Championship, and Club Captain Dave Gallimore and Dunc were our only representatives in the event. After a practice round with Club Professional Greg Rogula the week prior, both fancied their chances of a high placed finish however. The course was in magnificent condition, but the pins were in difficult positions. This coupled with playing from the very back tees was to prove difficult for most of the field on the day. Dunc Stott played very well finishing with a Gross 75 off a Handicap of 2. This gave him 2nd Place overall, narrowly losing out to Barry Whitehouse who was playing his home club Bloxwich. This was even more impressive considering that his 2nd shot on the 4th Hole went out of bounds.
Dave Gallimore finished in 5th Place overall with a 78 Gross off a handicap of 4, he was however a little disappointed in the finish commenting "I am a bit disappointed having dropped 4 shots in the last 3 holes".
LORD STAFFORD'S CHARITY DAY
Last week, a team of 4 members from Leek supported the above event at South Staffordshire Golf Club in aid of the Donna Louise Hospice. Although the golf was not at its best the day was enjoyable and the Charity benefited by over £1,000. The members supporting the event were Club Captain Dave Gallimore, Lincoln Boulton, Ken Hewitt & Mike Barker.
