Open Qualifying With 100 players at West Lancs and only five spots available it was going to be tough, a very long course and a windy day played into Liam’s hands and he led the field for most of the day with a one under par, finally securing a spot in the finals with second place on his own. Final Open Qualifying Despite playing poorly all day and missing a chance to play in The Open, some valuable experience was gained playing alongside Richard Green from Australia and Matthew Cort both seasoned European Tour Players. Europro Tour After securing a full tour card for the season, Liam has played every event in 2017 and gained some much needed experience. Not just experience playing week in week out, but living out of a suitcase for most of the year, practicing, training and keeping on top of his game and fitness, yes it’s been difficult at times picking himself back up after a bad round here and there, as we all know this a very unforgiving game. This season and experience has been great making a few cuts and playing with Sky TV cameras around, playing with some very notable players and learning how to play at this elite level is all being another big learning curve in Liam’s young career. A long rest now as we move into the winter and back to the gym and practice ground in preparation for the Algarve Pro Tour in January. I am sure you are all aware Liam lost his Mum in March this year and despite this major setback he has pushed on and worked hard all season, Helen would have been immensely proud of Liam and will be watching over him I’m sure. Liam will see you all at the Club. |
