PRO/CAPTAIN CHALLENGEThe first quarter of our Pro Captain Challenge is over and we would like to thank everybody for taking part.
The Winners, beating or should I say walloping the Pro Captain by a margin of 5&4 are Rob Taylor and Rob Thompson (pictured below left with the Pro and Captain before we stopped speaking to them.) who have won a FREE game of golf at Sandiway Golf Club.
They will be joined by the Pro and Captain who are looking for revenge (watch out!!)
Runners up in the Pro Captain Challenge were Stuart Townsend and Geoff Lawrence (above right) who won by a respectable 1 up, we will have our revenge on them at Izaak Walton Golf Club.
The scores have been reset, we currently have no challengers booked in, so if anybody fancies their chances or would just like to play with the Pro Captain please come into the shop and book in.
FEEDBACK
Mixed Open
Many thanks for making us feel so welcome at your club. We all thought the course was in great condition and good test of golf, a credit to the grounds staff and yourselves for the effort you all put into the competition. Everyone was so friendly and the event well organised - so much so that we intend to visit at least twice a year.
That aside, I was thrilled to have won nearest the pin - didn't think that would have held up to the end of the day. I will pass on the vouchers to Sharon & Mike, whom I am sure will be equally as pleased.
Thanks again.

Stone Lady Captain's Away
Dear Mr. Secretary
Just a few lines to say a big thank you to Leek Golf Club for making my 'Away Day' so special and enjoyable.
The whole day was super. All the arrangements worked really well, the bacon rolls were delicious, the meal at the end of our day was lovely and the weather was excellent to!
The course was in superb condition and immaculately presented. Every one of the ladies from Stone commented about the course as they finished their rounds. Also, we all had plenty of 'space', both on the course and in the clubhouse and everyone I met or spoke to was very welcoming.
Even in the ladies locker room, there was a note of welcome from Karen your Lady Captain, who also made a point of coming to say hello to us all, before we headed off to the 1st tee.
Please also thank Karen in the office and Chef Jen for me as well.
I do hope to visit you again.
Yours Sincerely,
Sue Chaplow- Lady Captain Stone Golf Club
COMPETITION SECRETARYS UPDATE
Members will have noticed that in recent weeks we have tried several different playing procedures in an attempt to solve the problem of slow play.
Sunday 1st June we asked members to mark on their cards tee off time, time on the 1st/11th tee and finishing time. This will be continued for the June Medal on the 8th June and Roberts Cup Qualifier on 15th June.
We would like all competitors to endeavour to keep pace with the competitors immediately in front of you and also be aware of competitors immediately behind you.
If you are searching for a ball and the competitors behind you are waiting, please wave them through, not after 5 minutes.
Once you have holed out on each hole, please leave the green immediately and mark your score card on the next tee.
At all times please be ready to play your shot, as soon as it is your turn.
Please try and leave buggies and trollies to the side of the green nearest to the next tee, whist putting out.
Far too many score cards are being returned as No Returns (NR) with comment of 'Slow Play'. Our aim is for the round to take a maximum of 4 hours for a medal competition.
Please give it a try and any further suggestion you might have to speed up the place of play will be welcomed by your competition committee.
