Hello golfers,

Captain's Day

On Sunday 22nd May 30 ladies took part in Captain's Day for Ladies. We were met on the first tee by Mr Captain Andrew Baxter. He was accompanied by Mike Wootton who was acting as the photographer. As we approached the Millennium hut on the 11th tee we were greeted by Caroline and Mike who by this time had made his way to help Caroline. The drinks and scones were most welcome at this point.

Georgie TaylorAfter an enjoyable day of golf followed the very welcome meal and presentation. The outcome of the days golf resulted in a CSS of 74 (Reduction Only). Captain's Day overall winner was Georgie Taylor coming in with 38 pts. Pictured here with Andy.

1st Division Karen Griffiths 31 pts on count back, 2nd Jayne Baxter 31 pts, 3rd Jenny Cordon 29 pts.
1st Bronze Division Pam Glaves 35 pts, 2nd Sheila Woolley 32 pts, 3rd Janet Wood 31 pts.

There were some very interesting nearest the pin formats.

Nearest the pin on the 7th was Jenny Flower 5.5".
Nearest the pin in 2 for silver on the 17th was Georgie Taylor 41' 6".
Nearest the pin on the 4th for bronze division was Myra Williams 430 cm.
Nearest the pin in 2 on the 11th was Janet Wood in the hole for a birdie.

Mr Captain congratulated all the winners and thanked us all for joining him on this special day. He went on to thank the following for their help in making the day a success:-

Denise Stazaker for the lovely flower arrangements;
Greg and Jake for organising the nearest the pin signs;
John Turner and his staff for the excellent course condition;
Mike Wootton for the photographs;
Maria Wootton for the admin work;
Mike Barker for the score cards;
Peter Cordon, John Challinor and Caroline for the catering.

A special thank-you went to Jayne for being brilliant in advising and supporting in so many ways. The Captain had certainly done us proud on this special day and the prizes were extremely generous. Lady Captain Pat Beeson concluded by thanking Mr Captain on behalf of all the ladies and presented Jayne with a bouquet of flowers.

Maria Wootton

2nd Team Vs Westwood

The 2nd Team took on Westwood on Saturday in horrendous conditions. At 4.45, with 3 matches already won, and a game conceded, the decision was made to suspend play and wait for the weather to clear up.

Dennis Vincent & Ross Salmon - WON 5&3
Chris Flavell & Mark Shea - WON 6&5
Dave Fowler & Robbie Woolliscroft - WON 6&5
Rich Cordon & Nick Moss - Game given

That left:- Steve Matthews & Mike Andrews - 4 up with 5 to play
