Hello golfers,
Latin America at Leek Golf Club
Saturday night turned Latin American for the evening when a salsa night was held at the club. A fantastic turnout enjoyed a Mexican buffet followed by a salsa dance demonstration by Helen and Matt from Synchronicity Dance.
This was followed by a teaching session when nearly everyone came onto the dance floor for a lesson in Latin dancing. We all tried to get into the rhythm of salsa yet towards the end of the evening, felt we had competed in a major work- out in the gym and headed for the bar.
My thanks go out to everyone involved. John and his catering staff who provided a lovely Mexican meal, Peter and his bar staff who worked tirelessly , (especially towards the end when we were dehydrated!) and to all the "behind the scenes" people who helped with advertising, decorations, etc. At the end of the night, I hope everyone`s feet didn't hurt as much as mine!

Elvis is Alive and Well!!
Elvis made a surprise visit to Leek GC last Saturday, when 60 members and friends were amazed to see him set up and perform in the club lounge with an impromptu gig for all to enjoy. This had nothing to do with the conspiracy theory going around that Mike Andrews and the house team and planned something for the evening. Some friends and members had made an effort in dressing for the occasion, notably Mike & Julie Freakley, Bo & Clare Robinson and Pete & Carole Nixon.
It was great to see new faces at our event, and all those who came had a great time, with marvellous food comprising Chicken á la King and Chilli con Carne. Stephen & Julie Wales had invited a party from the Staffordshire Moorlands, including Ben Emery, Leek Town Mayor, who surprised those present by singing a duet with Elvis and livening up the proceedings by no end. Watch out for a variety of tribute acts in the near future-there are many to choose from.
