Hello golfers,

Club news

Notice to members - Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status

Your Management Committee has overwhelmingly decided to adopt the changes required to maintain our status as a Community Amateur Sports Club and thereby retain the substantial financial benefits that such status provides.

Your committee is satisfied that the benefits of retaining our CASC status far exceed any associated cost and will equip us to face the future with some confidence. A report detailing the main changes is posted on the Secretary's Notice Board and is available in the members' section of the club website.

Please feel free to get back to me if you would like further detail or wish to comment but please be mindful that I must notify HMRC of our intention by the end of the month. Consequently it may not be possible to process any late proposals.

Hon. Secretary 01.03.2016

The trolley crash club

Some weeks ago, the Saturday Winter Cup Group found a variation to this:- All our Members were gathered on the first tee waiting to start. One of the Members (who wishes to remain anonymous but whose initials are KW) was given the "difficult" task of throwing 4 balls into the air to decide the pairing.

For some unknown reason, he decided to throw the balls sideways and about 20ft, whistling past the heads of two ladies who were passing him, having just been invited to tee-off ahead of the group!

KW had had his driver in his hand and at that moment, accidentally knocked the button on his trolley causing it to leap forward, knock over another Members trolley and then career after the ladies to hurry them on. Luckily, no-one was injured and everyone saw the funny side of the moment. Charlie Chaplin would have been impressed...

1836 Tour - Phill Davies

James McCormick reaped the benefits of playing and practicing in Portugal by winning at Fulford with a seven under par 65 despite a bogey at the par five last.

He won by two from Low Laithes` Richard Law who led for most of the day with a five under par 67. McCormick had seven birdies and an eagle in his round at the par five 9th. Law had seven birdies and one double at the short par 13th for his round. James helped his Amateur partner Phill Davis from Leek Golf Club to the team event with a superb score of 46 Stableford points.

Congratulations on a fantastic score.

ECCO

We do like a bit of visual technology - and that's exactly what you get with these new shoes. However, the 'cage' isn't just for show, you just have to try a pair on. Not only are they extremely comfortable, something you always get from ECCO, but they feel great through the swing.
